Hello guys!

I’m the orthopedist Dr. André, and I would like to thank you for visiting my page.

Here you will find a little more about my background, my path to orthopedics, and why I keep this site up and running.

I am a native of the state of São Paulo, the son of a mathematician father and a lawyer mother. I have been practicing athletics since I was young, and have always been fascinated by the sports field. Unfortunately, I have seen many be forced to abandon sports early, due to injuries and traumas that are secondary to practicing sports intensely and incorrectly. I believe it was from then on, that medicine, especially orthopedics and sports medicine, began to increasingly attract my attention, and became the focus of my life. My belief was that sports could be practiced in a correct way, with the monitoring of qualified professionals, to ensure that everyone could perform their physical exercises throughout their lives.

It was with enormous happiness that I was met with the news of my approval to medical school in the same city where I spent my childhood and adolescence, and in which my parents still live to this day. The Universidade do Oeste Paulista – UNOESTE (University of West Paulista), located in the city of Presidente Prudente, granted me practical and theoretical lessons of the highest quality, necessary to complete the 6 years of the Medical School. Moreover, I also had the privilege of being taught by renowned doctors and professors for whom I have immense gratitude and affection.

Soon after graduating as a doctor, I was approved to an Orthopedics and Traumatology residence by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo – PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo); where I completed 3 years of residence. During this period, the intense and daily work, innumerable surgeries and outpatients, working with renowned orthopedists and traumatologists, and long hours of studying gave me the necessary basis to finish my residence in the best way: approved by the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology – SBOT. Thus, I received the title of Orthopedist and Traumatologist.

Soon after, I had the honor of joining the IFOR Hospital team, to complete my second medical residency, now in Knee Surgery. For another 2 years, I was part of the team of the renowned and dear friend Dr. Antonio Milani, with whom I worked aside daily, and was able learn not only all the medicine involving this incredible joint called the knee; but also, how to be a better human being, with all his humility, affection and attention to the patient.

In that same period, concomitantly to my second medical residency, I completed my specialization in Sports Medicine through the Medical School of ABC Paulista. I was able to associate all my orthopedic, trauma and clinical/surgical knee knowledge with the movements performed during the most diverse sports activities. Knowing each anatomy, movement, trauma and weights that our body can withstand, we can avoid and prevent many injuries, both acute and chronic, that may appear over the years.

Nowadays, and fortunately, the population is more aware of the need for good eating habits associated with practicing physical exercises to not only prolong the years of life; but also, to live these additional years in the best way possible. Everyone, from the youngest who want to perform sports and exercise in gyms, to those of older ages who seek muscle strengthening and pain relief have doubts! What are the best exercises? Which exercises should I avoid? How can I do physical activities and not hurt myself?

I developed this site with those questions in mind. I tried to bring the subjects most questioned by the patients in the form of questions and answers, to facilitate reading and to make it more pleasant. I hope to clarify the main doubts you may have on the subject, but I know that the subject is very broad and specific for each patient. So, if you have any questions, feel free to email me, or schedule an appointment at my clinic. We’ll be happy to talk to you a little more.

I wish the best to all, and enjoy your reading!
